Over 40 Student-Athletes Among Graduates at 2019 Winston-Salem State University Commencement

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The most important day of the athletic year came as over 40 Winston-Salem State University were among the 1,100-member graduating class of Winston-Salem State University. Among the graduating class of 2019, there were over 40 student-athletes who went on to become alumni of Winston-Salem State University.

Among the graduates, there were several student-athletes to graduate with honors. One of the most notable of today's graduates was not present at the commencement ceremony as Erica Davis, who graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, today. However, she was leading the Rams softball team in their first appearance in the second round of the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Softball Tournament. This comes in addition to earning D2CCA All-Region honors as well as All-CIAA honors. The Rams also had three magna cum laude graduates along with three cum laude graduates.

There were also a pair of Rams to earn advanced degrees as former WSSU baseball player, Hayden O'Neal earned a Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy and former Rams women's basketball player Jazmyn Saunders earned a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Technology.
