Winston-Salem, NC - Winston-Salem State University Director of Cheerleader Operations Lori Dobbins, announced on Sunday that the WSSU Cheerleading squad will hold open mascot tryouts on August 23, 2007 at 7:00 pm and will hold White Team (Junior Varsity) Cheerleading tryouts on September 24-27 from 5:30 - 8:30 pm, both in the C.E. Gaines Center.
The WSSU mascot, which is a year-long paid position, will actively participate in all home football and basketball games as well as other campus and community events throughout the city of
The White Team (junior varsity) cheerleaders will cheer all year long, serving in a reserve role for the 2007 football season, while serving as the primary cheerleaders for the WSSU women's basketball team.
The tryouts are open to any full-time
The WSSU mascot and white team (JV) cheerleaders will travel to many road games throughout the season, and will travel with the varsity cheerleading squad. Individuals who are interested in trying out for the mascot or JV cheerleader positions must be able to coordinate their schedules in order to allow for the necessary road-game travel.
