Winston-Salem State Alumni Cheerleaders to Hold Annual Summer Meeting
July 21, 2010
WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State University Alumni Cheerleaders will hold their annual summer meeting on Saturday July 31st at the R.J. Reynolds Building Room 136. The meeting will give a chance to reconnect for former members who have been a part of the proud history of Winston-Salem State University cheerleading.
Winston-Salem State University's cheerleaders hold a tradition that is often imitated, but never duplicated. Being recognized as one of the most visible and integral groups on our university's campus," WSSU Director of Cheerleading Operation Joevanne Estrada said. "We've been honored to be recognized as student-athletes. Just like any other athletic program, we look for social and financial support through our alumni."
This year, the Powerhouse of Red & White will make its return to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). As the team looks to reclaim its place as one of the premier programs in the CIAA, the Rams and Lady Rams will count on the support of its alumni. The meeting will include re-elections and discussions concerning alumni and homecoming fundraiser initiatives.
As head coach and an alumni cheerleader, it's amazing to see how much passion our alumni cheerleaders have even after their cheerleading careers here at WSSU," Estrada added. "This is a very special event and I am looking to `revive' the alumni cheerleaders' association membership and support at this year's summer meeting."
