Rams Drop Double Header to #23 Armstrong Atlantic

The Winston-Salem State University baseball team dropped two non-conference games (16-5, 6-1) to the #23 ranked Armstrong Atlantic Pirates Saturday afternoon as the Pirates completed a three game sweep of the Rams.

In game one, the Rams pitching gave up 12 walks and the team committed two errors as the Pirates defeated the Rams 16-5.

For WSSU Travis Moore went two for three with three runs scored, and Aaron Jones went three for three with an rbi.  Tyler Hickernell went one for four with two rbi's.  Scott Wells also picked up an rbi going one for three at the plate.

Winston-Salem State used six pitchers in the game, with Wesley Edward (0-1) picking up the loss.

In game two the Rams' offense stalled as they managed only one run in the fifth inning and the defense committed two more errors in a 6-1 loss.

Aaron Jones went two for four with a run scored, and Zach Boraski, Scott Wells, Michael Robbins and Angel Martinez each went one for three in the loss.  Martinez had the Rams lone rbi in the game.

John Markley (0-1) picked up the loss for the Rams (0-3).

The WSSU Rams will host another NCAA Division II powerhouse program, as the Millersville Marauders will come to Winston-Salem on Saturday, February 11 for a 1:00 & 4:00 doubleheader, and the two teams will meet again on Sunday at 12:00 and 4:00 at BB&T Field, home of the Winston-Salem Dash.
