WSSU Rams Sweep Weekly CIAA Baseball Honors

 

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State University Baseball swept this week's CIAA Baseball Honors, with Seth Reeves being named CIAA Pitcher of the Week, Brandon Ford being names Offensive Player of the Week and Landon Steiner being named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. WSSU head coach, Kevin Ritsche, was named the CIAA Coach of the Week, for the third consecutive week.

Seth Reeves was named CIAA Pitcher of the Week for his effort versus Chowan on Sunday. In the Rams 3-0 victory, Reeves pitched a complete game, going all seven innings, allowing just three hits, one walk and no runs. Reeves also struck out seven.

Brandon Ford was named CIAA Offensive Player of the Week, after he lit up the plate with a .833 average on Sunday.  Ford was five of six, with three runs scored, one triple and one run batted in and one stolen base in the Rams two wins over Chowan.

Landon Steiner was named CIAA Defensive Player of the Week, as he totaled 11 chances with no errors for WSSU. Steiner has 11 putouts, and finished with a 1.000% fielding percentage.

WSSU head coach, Kevin Ritsche, guided his Rams to two wins over Chowan (7-3, 3-0) on Sunday, and for their efforts were rewarded with being ranked number nine in the current Atlantic Region Poll.

WSSU will return to BB&T Ballpark, in downtown Winston-Salem, this weekend, when the Rams will host Lincoln University (Pa), in a four game set. The double header will begin at 1:00pm on Saturday and Sunday, with the second game scheduled for 3:30pm.
