WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The duo of Winston-Salem State University senior third base Emilio Abreu and junior Randy Norris were both named to the Rawlings America Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) All-Atlantic Region team, Wednesday. The honor marks the third all-region honor for the duo and the fourth overall post-season honor for the two Rams. Abreu earned first team all-region honors while Norris earned second team all-region honors.
In addition to being named to the ABCA All-Region team, both Norris and Abreu were also named to the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) All-Atlantic Region team as well as the D2CCA All-Atlantic Region team. Both players were also named to the Independent Collegiate Athletic Association (ICAA) All-Conference team as well with Norris being named the ICAA Player of the Year.
Abreu finished the 2018 regular season with a .402 batting average to rank second on the team. He also added 41 RBI with a team-high 10 home runs to go along with six doubles and a triple. Norris finished the season with a .437 batting average and ranks in the top 10 nationally. He also led the team with 53 runs scored and 28 RBI. He also had four home runs with five triples and five doubles.
