Rams Walk Off Again for a 3-2 Win Over Lock Haven

ASHEBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams claimed their second dramatic win of the day when they took a 3-2 win over the Lock Haven Bald Eagles (4-6-1). For the second time in one day, the Rams drew a base-loaded base on balls to walk off with the win.

The Rams had a better hitting performance in the game as the team totaled six hits to take the win while holding the Bald Eagles to just two runs on eight hits. WSSU junior left fielder Cole Parks led the way for the Rams with a two-for-four batting performance. Sophomore right fielder added an RBI with a run scored.

This time, it was the Rams who held off the Bald Eagles' rally as the team struck early and counted on their defense to key the win. The Rams struck first when a Lock Haven fielding error in the first inning allowed the Rams to take an early lead. It was followed in the third inning when a double steal and an LHU throwing error allowed the Rams to take a 2-0 lead. The Rams allowed a fourth inning home run and a fifth inning RBI sacrifice fly that tied the game. However, in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rams once again drew a base-loaded walk to take the 3-2 victory.

WSSU sophomore Jalen Scott (3-2) took the pitching win. He started the game and threw all seven innings of the game. He allowed two runs (two earned) on eight hits with three strikeouts.

With the win, the Rams improve to 16-7. The team will return to action tomorrow to close out the weekend series with a doubleheader against the Bald Eagles at BB&T Ballpark.
