WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Fans of Winston-Salem State University basketball will get an extra treat for them when they welcome the Rams women's and men's basketball teams back to action, Friday evening. There will be free admission to anyone who brings a non-perishable food item or donates school supplies. The donations will be distributed to numerous community service efforts that the Rams support.
Friday's game will usher a return to Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) play for the Rams women's and men's basketball teams as they host new conference foes Claflin. Both WSSU teams will be playing a bit of catch up to the Panthers as the Rams have both played just two CIAA games while both Claflin teams have already played eight conference games.The Claflin Lady Panthers are 5-3 in CIAA play while the Panthers men are 4-4 in CIAA play.
The Rams women's basketball team will return to action on a high note after claiming a clutch 76-74 non-conference win at former CIAA member West Virginia State. The Rams women's basketball team is currently 1-1 in CIAA play. The Rams men's basketball team will be making a return to action after taking a double-overtime loss at Bowie State on December 16th. The Rams are currently 0-2 in CIAA play.
Friday's doubleheader will begin with the women's game beginning at 5:30 p.m. followed by the men's game at 7:30 p.m. at the C.E. Gaines Center on the campus of Winston-Salem State University.
