CHARLOTTE, NC – After a strong regular season, the Winston-Salem State Rams brought home several honors when the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its post-season honors. The Rams duo of senior forward William Crandell and junior guard Robert Colon were both named to the All-CIAA team while freshman forward Xavier Fennell earned a spot on the CIAA All-Rookie team.
The duo of Crandell and Colon both featured some of the top scoring duos of the team. Crandell finished the regular season as the Rams' leading scorer and rebounder, averaging 16.0 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game. He ranked in the top ten in the CIAA in both categories. Colon finished the regular season averaging 15.8 points per game to rank eighth in the CIAA. He finished the regular season ranked fourth with 61 three pointers made.
Fennell was named to the CIAA All-Rookie team after an impressive freshman season of his own. He finished the season playing in all 26 of the team's games with 23 starts. He averaged 5.5 points and 4.6 rebounds per game and totaled nine blocks.
The Rams trio will lead the team into the opening round of the 2019 CIAA Men's Basketball Championship Tournament, tomorrow, when they take on the Elizabeth City State Vikings. In an 8:40 game.
