  • Quick Selected for Fourth Annual FCS Bowl

    DAYTONA BEACH, FL – Winston-Salem State University running back Xavier Quick will have a little more work to do before he hangs up his cleats. Quick was selected to compete in the annual FCS Bowl. Presented by SPIRAL/East Preps LLC, the FCS Bowl showcases seniors from around the nation that travel to the game from over 30 states representing over 100 schools.
  • Bright Earns First Team All-CIAA Honors

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The honors are coming in for the Winston-Salem State Rams as four players were named to the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference Team. Winston-Salem State junior defensive lineman Jarrell Bright earned first team All-CIAA honors while three more Rams earned second team honors.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-4, 4-3 CIAA) left it all on the field, but the effort was not quite enough when the team took a heartbreaking 23-22 Senior Day loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (6-4, 5-2 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. After allowing Bronco touchdown with 30 seconds left to play, the Rams missed a 36-yard field goal in the final seconds to take the critical loss.
  • Rams Take a Dramatic 27-21 Overtime Homecoming Victory Over Shaw Bears

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – You can always expect a thrilling game when the Winston-Salem State Rams (6-3, 4-2 CIAA) and the Shaw Bears (3-6, 2-4 CIAA) hit the gridiron and Saturday’s game was no different as the Rams took a 27-21 overtime win over the Bears. After playing to a 21-21 tie at the end of regulation, WSSU sophomore running back Jahiz Linebarger broke out for a 20-yard touchdown run in overtime to give the Rams a homecoming victory. 
  • Legendary Rams Football Coach William "Bill" Hayes Selected for Black College Football Hall of Fame

    ATLANTA, GA – Former Winston-Salem State head football coach and director of athletics William “Bill” Hayes will be honored for a prestigious career as he was selected for induction into the Black College Football Hall of Fame, Wednesday. He was selected from a list of 25 finalists by the BCFHOF Selection Committee.

    SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-3, 3-2 CIAA) broke out for one of the biggest wins of the season when the team took a 42-14 win over the Livingstone College Blue Bears (0-8, 0-5 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The Rams took the win behind on of their best offensive performances of the season with their second highest scoring effort of the season.
  • Rams Fall Victim to Late Comeback in 17-14 Loss at Saint Augustine's

    RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (4-3, 2-2 CIAA) gave a valiant effort, but the team just ran out of time in a tough 17-14 loss to the Saint Augustine’s Falcons (3-4, 4-1 CIAA), Saturday afternoon in the Tackle Breast Cancer Day Game. Though saddled by some key injuries, the Rams took an early fourth quarter lead, but the team could not hold off a late comeback by the Falcons in the tough loss.

Smith Golden Bulls, Saturday.

Smith Golden Bulls (0-6, 0-3 CIAA) in the team’s Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division opener for both teams. After jumping out to an early lead, the Rams fended off a furious fourth quarter comeback effort by the Golden Bulls on a damp and rainy Saturday afternoon.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – Winston-Salem State senior kick/punt returner Canard Brown was honored as the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Special Teams Player of the Week, Tuesday afternoon. He earned the honor after a dominant return effort to lead the Rams to a 48-0 win over the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions.
