WSSU Rams Blank The Lincoln Lions, 48-0

Winston-Salem State University wasted no time in getting on the scoreboard, as Canard Brown took the opening kickoff and raced 95 yards untouched,  to give the Rams an early 7-0 lead.

With just over 12:49 remaining in the first quarter, Daijon Carson blocked a Lincoln punt and scooped it up to score from the goal line to make the score 14-0.

The Rams blew the game wide open in the second quarter, with Rod Tinsley scrambling from 1 yard out to score and made the score, 21-0. Tinsley's score capped a 15 play, 86 yard drive.

Canard Brown put his special teams skills to use again, this time, on a punt return, as the senior returned a punt 72 yards for a score, and with Daniel Rivera's PAT, the Rams went up 28-0.

Rod Tinsley would put the Rams up 35-0, when he scrambled from a yard out capping a 5 play, 61 yard drive.

Tyron Roberts scooped up a loose ball and rumbled 39 yards for a touchdown, with 1:10 remaining in the third quarter, to put the WSSU Rams up 42-0.

And Farrell Murchison, scored on a 14 yard run, capping off a 4 play, 41 yard drive, to end the scoring on the night, and put the Rams ahead, 48-0, with 8:21 remaining in the game.

The Winston-Salem State University Rams, celebrating their 125th Anniversary, put up 293 yards of total offense, while holding the Lions to just 200 yards.

Kerrion Moore led the Rams rushing attack, putting up 93 yards on just nine carries, while Farrell Murchison added 72 yards on nine carries and a score. Rod Tinsley added two rushing touchdowns.

Tinsley finished the game going 7 of 11 through the air passing, for 48 yards.

Will Walton caught four passes for  29 yards, while Kerrion Moore added two catches for 3 yards and Jaylan Barbour added a catch for 16 yards.

Jayron Rankin led the Rams defensively, finishing the game with 8 tackles, one sack and one tackle for a loss, while Tyron Roberts finished with 7 tackles, two sacks, 2 tackles for a loss, a fumble recovery and a pass breakup, while Daijon Carson also finished with 7 tackles, 3 pass breakups and a blocked kick.

The Winston-Salem State University Rams will be back at home next week, as they host the Golden Bulls of Johnson C. Smith University. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:30pm.
