CHARLOTTE, NC – After winning their third straight game, the honors keep coming in for the Winston-Salem State Rams. Senior running back Kerrion Moore was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Offensive Back of the Week while junior free safety Daryus Skinner was honored as the CIAA Defensive Back of the Week.
Moore took home the honor after powering the Rams to a 34-19 Homecoming win over the Livingstone College Blue Bears, Saturday. He finished the day with 154 rushing yards with two touchdowns. Both touchdown runs were more than 50 yards as he had a 54-yard touchdown run and a 52-yard touchdown run in the game.
Skinner also had a stellar day against the Blue Bears with a career-high three interceptions in the game. The first came in the second quarter when he ended a Livingstone drive in the WSSU endzone. He also had an interception in the third and fourth quarters against the Blue Bears. With the three interceptions, Skinner moved into first place in the nation in interceptions.
The honors mark the third time at least one WSSU player has earned a weekly honor from the CIAA with freshman quarterback Dominique Graves and senior linebacker Patrick Green earning honors last week and junior defensive back Tyrell Flemning bringing home an honor earlier this season.
The Rams will return to action, Saturday when the team heads to Durham County Stadium to take on the Shaw Bears in a 1:00 p.m. game. For more information on Rams football, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
