WSSU Golfers Finish Florida A&M Invitational In Fifth Place

TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Winston-Salem State University men's golf team wrapped up participation in the 2007 Florida A&M Golf Invitational with a fifth-place finish as they closed out the second weekend of their spring 2007 schedule.

 

The Florida A&M Rattlers shot a final-round 296 en route to the championship of the 2007 FAMU Spring Invitational Tournament at the Killearn Country Club in Tallahassee, Florida.  FAMU finished the two-day affair in first place with an aggregate team total of 614. Morehouse (Ga.) College finished second (620), followed by Savannah (Ga.) State (625), South Carolina State (647) and Winston-Salem State (765).

In individual play Florida A&M's James Petty carded a three-under 69 in the final round to capture honors as the top individual medalist, finishing the event with a one-under 143.

 

The Rams return to action on March 25, 2007 at the Old Sycamore Golf Club when they travel to Wingate, NC to compete in the Wingate Collegiate Golf Invitational.
