Rams in Second Place After Opening Round of 2011 CIAA Golf Championships

FORT LEE, VA - The Winston-Salem State Rams opened the 2011 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Golf Championship Tournament with a strong performance as the team totaled a 308 (+20) in the first round of the two-round tournament. With the effort, the Rams sit in second place, just seven strokes behind the leading Virginia State Trojans' 301 (+7).
Winston-Salem State freshman Glendon Mabe led the way for the Rams with an opening round 73 (+1) to finish the opening day tied for third place. Fellow freshmen Jordan Lamb and Zachary Sheets rounded out the top five as the two tied for 77 (+5) in the opening round.
