WSSU Golfers Finish Sixth At Manor Intercollegiate Tourney

FARMVILLE, Va. – The Winston-Salem State University men’s golf team earned a sixth place finish from the Manor Intercollegiate played at The Manor Resort Golf Club in Farmville, Va. as the Rams turned in a team total of 989 (323-332-334—989) in the first action of the 2010-11 season. Wes Griswold and Glendon Mabe each carded totals of 243 to lead the Rams to a sixth-place finish in the 54-hole event.

The Longwood University Lancers earned a 29-shot victory over second-place High Point University (904) at the 7,214-yard, par 72 layout with LU junior Ross Sumner earning individual medalist honors with a three-round total of 214 (70-71-73—214) to lead the field of 56.

Zach Sheets earned a 35th-place finish for the Rams with a total of 244 (84-79-81—244) and Devin Cherry carded a 259 (81-82-96—259).

Winston-Salem State University will return to action on September 16-17 as they travel to Columbia, S.C. to participate in the Benedict College HBCU Golf Tournament.
