Box Score

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-5) snapped their recent skid in a big way with an 8-1 win over the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks (1-5), Monday afternoon. The Rams used a stellar overall effort to pick up the big win.

"I'm very happy with how we played today, fewer free points given away and we competed for every point," WSSU tennis head coach John Martin said. "I believe today's match is a good catapult into conference with us. We're going into this weekend on a high note and that is important."

The Rams got things started early with a sweep in doubles to jump out to a 3-0 lead. WSSU senior Maximillian Glodde and freshman Nick John had the best effort in doubles play, taking an 8-1 win over the Hawks. The Rams kept things going in singles play with wins in the #1-#5 positions.

The win will be a big one as the Rams gear up for the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Round-Up in Petersburg, Virginia this weekend. For more information on Rams tennis, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
