GREENSBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams men's and women's cross country programs returned to action, Saturday for some great performances at the 33rd Annual Greensboro Invitational. The Rams had some great performances in both the women's 5K run and the men's 8K run at the event.
As a team, the Rams women's team had a strong showing at the meet. WSSU sophomore Domtilla Kiplagat ran her best time of the season, breaking the 19-minute mark for the first time this season. She placed fifth at the meet with a 19:59.32 at the meet. Senior Fawzia Kheir added an 11th place finish at the meet with a 20:35.58. Fellow senior Phyllis Cheruyiot added a 27th place finish with a 21:55.04.
The Rams also had a great effort in the men's 8K run when junior Julian Massey led the team with a 36:01.89 to place 90th at the event. Senior Kadeem Sherrill added a 40:14.19 to place 113th while fellow senior Cory Gerald placed 119th with a 43:25.59.
The Rams women's and men's cross country teams will return to action next weekend when the teams return to Cary, N.C. to take part in the Robert Shumake HBCU Challenge at the Great American Cross Country Festival.
