Rams, Lady Rams to Open 2007 Season at UNC-Pembroke Invitational :: WSSU cross country team seeking strong start to the 2007 season

LUMBERTON, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams cross country teams will look for a strong start to the 2007 season when they take part in the UNC-Pembroke Invitational, Saturday morning. The two teams will get an "early" start with the Lady Rams beginning the day's activities with a 9:45 am start.

The Lady Rams welcome back their top three runners from last season, including junior Irene Jeptolo and sophomore Javonna Brown. Jeptolo, last season's WSSU Runner of the Year, returns to continue her stellar career at WSSU. The team also welcomes back sophomore Javonna Brown, last season's WSSU Rookie of the Year. Though the team welcomes a great group of returnees, there is a talented group of newcomers that will take the field for the first time on Saturday as well.

The Rams will also open the 2007 season on Saturday. The team will take the field with some high hopes with five returnees from last season's team, including seniors Kenneth Keoch and Gerrod Sidbury.

The Rams and Lady Rams will look to follow Saturday's contest by taking part in the Adidas Wolfpack Invitational next Friday.
