Lady Rams to Take On Campbell Camels in Tuesday Morning Match-Up
BUIE’S CREEK, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (2-3) will look to keep up their momentum when the team takes on the Campbell Camels (5-1) in a showdown between surging teams, Tuesday morning. The Lady Rams and Camels will take the court in a rare 11:45 a.m. game. The Lady Rams will head into the game following a pair of back-to-back wins, including a dominating 71-46 home win over the Georgia College & State Bobcats, last Tuesday.
The Lady Rams and Camels will take the court early as Campbell hosts the annual Campbell University Education Day. The game will be one of many events that will allow fifth-graders in the Buie’s Creek area to experience college life. The game will come between numerous other activities, including a pep rally and a presentation on college life.
On the court, both teams will have their hands full as both the Lady Rams and the Camels have had some great success on the court recently. The Lady Rams will take the court after a pair of wins. WSSU senior guard Courtney Medley has led the way for the team in its recent surge with 39 points and 19 rebounds in her last two games for the Lady Rams. Her last outing was her best overall effort of the season with a double-double 17 points and 11 rebounds against Georgia College & State. Fellow senior guard Jasmine Newkirk has also been a leader for the Lady Rams this season with double-digit scoring in four of the team’s five games this season. For the season, she is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 14 points per game.
The Lady Rams will take on a Campbell team that has opened the season with a 5-1 record. The team’s sole loss came on the road at Georgia State. Junior guard Tonisha Baker, who hails from nearby High Point, North Carolina will lead the Camels, averaging 11.2 points per game this season. Senior forward Katelyn Bass adds a 10.2 ppg average per game and averages 6.8 rebounds per game.
The two teams are scheduled for an 11:45 a.m. tip-off at Gore Arena at the John W. Pope Convocation Center.
