CHARLOTTE, NC – Winston-Salem State freshman guard Amaya Tucker got an early gift as she was named the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Rookie of the Week, Tuesday afternoon. She earned the honor after a great first week of CIAA play.
Tucker looked great in her CIAA debut with two solid games. She began with 21 points to lead the Rams to an 80-72 win at Lincoln (Pa.). She followed that effort with 15 points in a hard-fought 76-63 loss at Bowie State. For the week, Tucker went six-for-11 from the three-point line and she was 12-for-18 from the free throw line as well.
The Rams will return to action on New Year's Eve when the team heads to Institute, West Virginia to take on the West Virginia State Yellowjackets in a 2:00 p.m. game.
