February 20, 2017 Tate Named to 2017 All-CIAA Team CHARLOTTE, NC – After a successful regular season, the honors came in for the Winston-Salem State Rams women’s basketball team when junior center Kandace Tate was selected for the 2017 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) All-Conference team. She was selected as a member of the All-CIAA frontcourt and was the only WSSU player selected to the team.
February 18, 2017 Rams Earn Third Seed in CIAA South for 2017 CIAA Women's Basketball Championship Tournament CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams women’s basketball team beat the odds when the team earned a third-place seeding from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division for the upcoming 2017 CIAA Women’s Basketball Championship Tournament. The Rams earned the seeding after a successful 2016-17 regular season where the team posted 6-4 record in division play and a 13-13 overall record.
February 18, 2017 Rams Close Regular Season with 92-79 Loss at Livingstone SALISBURY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-13, 9-7 CIAA) could not find the answers when the team took a 92-79 road loss to the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (13-12, 9-7 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. There was no shortage of effort for the Rams in the tough loss, especially in the second half, but the team was outgunned by the aggressive, uptempo play of the Lady Blue Bears.
February 15, 2017 Rams Fall Short in 76-60 Loss to Johnson C. Smith WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-12, 9-6 CIAA) came up short in 76-60 loss to the Johnson C. Smith Lady Golden Bulls (19-6, 12-3 CIAA) in a key Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division game, Wednesday evening. The Rams gave a solid effort, but turnovers and an aggressive JCSU offensive attack proved to be too much to overcome in the tough loss.
February 11, 2017 Rams Cruise in 80-69 Senior Day Win Over Fayetteville State WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-11, 9-5 CIAA) clicked on all cylinders when the team took an 80-69 senior day win over the Fayetteville State Lady Broncos (6-17, 4-10 CIAA), Saturday afternoon. The win saw the Rams put on their most impressive offensive showing of the season as the team heads down the final stretch of the regular season.
February 8, 2017 Slow Second Half Costs Rams in 66-60 Win at Shaw RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (12-11, 8-5 CIAA) had a solid overall effort, but the team could not make the plays they needed when they took a 66-60 loss to the Shaw Lady Bears (9-16, 6-7 CIAA), Wednesday evening. For the second time this season, the Rams the Lady Bears played a very close contest, but this time, it was the Lady Bears who made the key plays.
