Lady Rams Bowling Opens CIAA Southern Division Meet with Three Wins
FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (10-6, 10-6 CIAA) bowling team returned to action in big way with three wins on the opening day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division meet hosted by Fayetteville State University, Friday. The Lady Rams posted a solid 3-2 record on the opening day of the event.
The Lady Rams got off to a slow start with back-to-back losses. The team opened the day with an 856-839 loss to defending CIAA champion and host Fayetteville State, followed by an 867-765 loss to Saint Augustine's College. The team soon recovered from the slow start and finished the day with three straight wins. The team got things started when they took a clutch 741-718 win over Livingstone, followed by a 770-639 win over Johnson C. Smith. The Lady Rams closed the day on a high note, taking an 847-665 win over Shaw.
Senior Jameka Johnson led the way for the Lady Rams with 881 total pins for the day. She scored a team-high 215 in the final match of the day over the Shaw Lady Bears. Senior Candace Spinks also had a solid day as well, totaling 825 pins for the day. She also added a 195 total pins against Shaw.
