Lady Rams Post 5-1 Record on Opening Day of CIAA Cross-Divisional Meet

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (22-10, 22-10 CIAA) opened the CIAA North & South Round Up with a great effort, posting a 5-1 record to open the event. The Lady Rams tied the Virginia State Lady Trojans for the best opening day of the three-day event.

The Lady Rams totaled 4,396 total pins in the event. After opening the event with a clutch 648-638 win over the Lincoln (Pa.) Lady Lions. The win sparked a great effort by the team that took a pair of clutch 10-pin victories on the day. The team followed the victory with a 776-653 win over Chowan. The team's only setback of the day came in a 746-693 loss to Bowie State. After the loss, there was no looking back for the Lady Rams as the team posted three straight wins. The team defeated Elizabeth City State (812-798), Virginia State (757-744), and Virginia Union (710-620).

WSSU freshman Tyler Barringer led the way for the Lady Rams with a team-best 988 pin total for the team. Senior Candace Spinks added 899 total pins.
