Lady Rams Bowling Reaches Final Six at 2012 CIAA Bowling Championships
DURHAM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (45-23) bowling team had a great effort on the second day of the 2012 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Bowling Championships tournament, Sunday. After posting a perfect 4-0 record in Baker games play, the Lady Rams opened the double elimination tournament as well.
The Lady Rams got the day off to a strong start with four straight wins in Baker games play. The team posted wins over all of the CIAA Northern Division foes, defeating Bowie State (732-705), Elizabeth City State (825-821), Chowan (712-607), and Virginia State (816-673). The team's 825 in their clutch win over Elizabeth City State was a team-high for the day and the Lady Rams needed every pin as they won the match by four.
With the effort, the Lady Rams totaled 5,990 pins in the first two days of team and Baker games play. The pin total earned the team a third-place seeding in the 2012 CIAA Championship Tournament.
The Lady Rams would open the Baker games play tournament later in the day when the team took a 4-2 win over Saint Augustine's to advance to the winner's bracket before taking a 4-0 loss to the top-seeded Fayetteville State Lady Broncos. With the loss, the Lady Rams fall to the elimination round and will take on the Saint Augustine's Lady Falcons again, Monday morning.
