CHARLOTTE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (8-7, 8-7 CIAA) closed out their first meet of the season with a strong effort in Baker games play at the Johnson C. Smith Invitational. With the effort, the Lady Rams closed out the event tied with host Johnson C. Smith with an 8-7 record, the second best for the meet.
The Lady Rams opened Baker games play with a strong start, winning their first three games of the day. The team poured on the points in the first three games, defeating Shaw 608-602, Livingstone 602-487, and Saint Augustine's 608-488. The team closed out the day with some struggles with back-to-back losses to host Johnson C. Smith (582-569) and host Johnson C. Smith (765-545).
With the effort, the Lady Rams open the season with an 8-7 overall record. The Lady Rams will return to action next weekend when the team heads to Sumter, S.C. to take part in the South Carolina State Bulldog Open.
