WSSU Rams In Prime Position To Challenge For Outdoor Championship

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (April 20) – The Winston-Salem State University Rams Track and Field team will compete for the 2017 CIAA Outdoor Championship this weekend on the Bowie State University campus in Bowie, Md.

The WSSU Rams finished second in the Indoor Championships to Johnson C. Smith University (155 to 142) held February 12-13, 2017 in Lynchburg, VA at Liberty University. WSSU won the Outdoor Championships in 2015-16.

The Rams are led by WSSU senior sprinter, Ty-Leah Hampton, senior middle distance runner, Taska Johnson, junior distance runner, Domtilla Kiplagat, senior thrower Lyssa Wallace-O'Neal and senior sprinter and jumper, Rachel Bonham.

Inez Turner and Winston Morris have the Rams in prime position to challenge for the championship, after a strong season on the outdoor track.
