WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (14-9, 7-1 CIAA) had another great offensive effort, Sunday afternoon when they took a 17-0 win over the Livingstone Lady Blue Bears (5-8, 2-7 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. After taking a 17-0 win in the opening game of the doubleheader, the Lady Rams repeated the feat in the second game of the doubleheader.
As a team, the Lady Rams totaled 15 hits in the game and scored 17 runs. The team took advantage of the long ball when they totaled four extra base hits, including a home run, a triple, and a pair of doubles. WSSU junior shortstop Katrina Bartlett led the way with a two-for-three effort at the plate with three runs scored and four RBI with a home run. Freshman pitcher Chyna Riley also added four runs scored with three hits and three RBI. Junior outfielder Kiah Ruffin added three RBI with three runs scored.
The Lady Rams opened the game in a big way with eight runs in the first inning. The team added five in the third and four in the fourth inning.
Riley (3-1) took the pitching win with five innings of play and allowing just three hits allowed. She also recorded eight strikeouts as well with no walks.
