Rams Struggle in 4-0 Loss at Anderson (S.C.)

ANDERSON, SC – The hits were hard to come by for the Winston-Salem State Rams (0-3) when the team took a 4-0 loss to the Anderson Trojans (8-3), Sunday afternoon. The WSSU offense struggled against the Anderson defense as the Rams totaled just three hits in the game.

Though the WSSU offense had its share of struggles, the Rams countered with some solid defense as the held Anderson to just six hits in the game. WSSU freshman Taonya Stanely led the way for the Rams with a two-for-three effort at the plate with a double. Junior pitcher Mercedes Hargett added a single of her own in the game.

Hargett (0-2) took the pitching loss going all seven innings of the game with four runs allowed (two earned). She finished the game with six strikeouts and no walks.
