Rams Struggle in 7-0 Loss to Georgia College & State

RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-9) could not quite get their offense going when the team took a 7-0 loss to the Georgia College & State Bobcats (18-4), Saturday afternoon at the Annual Shaw University Softball Challenge. The WSSU offense struggled mightily in the loss as the Rams totaled just one hit in the game.

Though the Rams offense was not quite up to par, the team did give a solid defensive effort, holding the Bobcats to just seven runs. WSSU junior second base Chyna Riley recorded the sole WSSU hit of the game when she hit a third inning single.

WSSU junior Mercedes Hargett (2-6) took the pitching loss, going all seven innings and allowing seven runs (seven earned). She finished the game with six strikeouts.

The Rams would go on to complete the day when the team faces the Queens (N.C.) Royals at the Shaw University Softball Challenge. For more information on Rams softball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com
