    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-21, 5-4 CIAA) got back to their winning ways, Saturday morning when the team took a 13-1 five-inning road win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (6-15, 4-7 CIAA). The Rams turned in one of their best overall performances of the season with one of their best offensive performances combined with one of their top defensive performances of the season.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-22, 5-5 CIAA) gave a solid effort, but the team could not quite come back when the team took a 13-9 road loss to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (7-15, 5-7 CIAA). The game was a high-scoring affair, but the Rams could not keep up with the hot hitting of the Golden Bulls.

    FAYETTEVILLE, NC  - The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-21, 3-4 CIAA) opened Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play on a down note when the team took a heartbreaking 6-5 road loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (5-18, 4-3 CIAA), Friday afternoon. The Rams held a late lead, but a late rally by the Broncos gave the Rams the tough loss.

    FAYETTEVILLE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-21, 4-4 CIAA) had an offensive surge when the team took a 12-2 five-inning road win over the Fayetteville State Broncos (5-19, 4-4 CIAA). In addition to serving as the team’s first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division win, it also serves as the team’s first road win of the season. 
  • Winston-Salem State Claims Four CIAA Softball Weekly Honors

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State University softball team was rewarded for a great week when the team brought home four weekly honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Wednesday. WSSU sophomore Erica Davis was named the CIAA Pitcher of the Week while freshman outfielder Nyla Howard was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week while junior infielder Daijah Chambers was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. Head coach LaTaya Hilliard-Gray rounded out the week when she was named the CIAA Softball Coach of the Week.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-20) staged a late rally, but the team could not hold off the Mount Olive Trojans (16-20) in a 10-8 loss. The Rams allowed four seventh-inning runs to the Trojans to take the hard-fought loss.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (4-18) got back their winning ways, Friday, when the team took a dominating 9-0 win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (7-11). The Rams stayed hot to claim their first home win of the season and their fifth win in their last six games.

The Rams took the win behind another great offensive effort as the team reached double-digit scoring in their third straight game at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Round Up.

The Rams had a great effort at the plate, but the Rams fell short in the loss at the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Round Up.

    ELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (1-17, 1-2 CIAA) wasted little time when they took a 14-1 win over the Elizabeth City State Lady Vikings (1-17, 1-3 CIAA) on the second day of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Round Up. The Rams took the win in dominant fashion with some tremendous play on both sides of the ball.

The Rams took the win behind a tremendous effort both offensively and defensively.

The score belied a strong overall effort by the Rams, but the team had one costly inning of struggles that cost the team the loss.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State (0-5) Rams softball team gave a strong offensive effort, but the team could not hold off the hard-hitting Barton Bulldogs (3-5) in a 16-6 loss. The Rams had a solid offensive game with six runs scored. However, the Rams could not hold the hard-hitting Barton Bulldogs at bay in the loss.

    PEMBROKE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (0-3) knocked out seven hits, but the team could only plate two runs in a hard-fought 7-2 loss to the Kutztown Bears (1-2), Saturday, morning. The Rams had a solid day at the plate, but the team could not get their runs across the plate in the loss.

After falling behind, 6-2, the Rams scored four runs late in the game, but allowed a pair of runs to the Raiders to take the hard-fought loss.

  • Former Ram Hargett Named Assistant Softball Coach at Alabama A&M University

    HUNTSVILLE, AL – After a successful playing career, former Winston-Salem State Rams softball player Mercedes Hargett will begin her coaching career as she was named as an assistant softball coach at Alabama A&M University. She will begin immediately with the Lady Bulldogs program, an NCAA Division I school.
