Rams Break Out for 17-0 Win Over Lincoln (Pa.) at CIAA Softball Round Up

ELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (2-17, 2-2 CIAA) stayed on their winning ways when the team took a 17-0 over the Lincoln (Pa.) Lions (0-5, 0-4 CIAA), Saturday afternoon at the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Round Up. The Rams took the win behind a tremendous effort both offensively and defensively.

The Rams broke out their bats to score a season-high 17 runs on a season-high 17 hits in the game. Freshman catcher Alexis Washenko led the way for the Rams with a three-for-three performance at the plate with a home run, two runs scored, and three RBI. Sophomore pitcher Erica Davis went two-for-three at the plate with a home run, three runs scored, and two RBI.

The Rams had a hot hitting effort in all five innings of the game. The Rams opened the game with four first inning runs before added seven second inning runs. The Rams added a pair of third inning runs before closing the game with four fourth inning runs.

Davis (1-7) took the pitching victory. She went all five innings with no runs allowed with just one hit. She also added nine strikeouts.

With the win, the Rams improve to 2-17 overall and 2-2 in CIAA play. The Rams will close out the round up tomorrow when the team takes on Bowie State and Chowan tomorrow.
