ELIZABETH CITY, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (3-17, 3-2 CIAA) kept up their high-scoring ways going when the team took an 11-1 win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (3-8, 2-4 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. The Rams took the win behind another great offensive effort as the team reached double-digit scoring in their third straight game at the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Round Up.
The Rams had a solid day at the plate to take the win. As a team, the Rams took the win behind eight hits. WSSU sophomore Daijah Chambers went three-for-three effort at the plate with a home run, three RBI, and a run scored. Freshman Nyla Howard also had a strong day as well. She went three-for-three as well with a double and a run scored.
The Rams broke the game open early with a dominating first inning. The team scored seven first inning runs to go ahead 7-0. The Rams held the Bulldogs scoreless until the top of the fourth inning when the team allowed a run to the Bulldogs. The Rams answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. The Rams saw a pair of home runs from Chambers and freshman Tia Robinson to seal the 11-1 victory.
WSSU sophomore Erica Davis (2-7) took the pitching win. She started the game with one run allowed, one earned, on three hits. She did so with a pair of strikeouts.
