    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – Winston-Salem State senior designated hitter Samantha Gibbs earned yet another post-season honor when she was named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State team. She took home second team honors after a great season with the Rams.

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-26) gave a tremendous effort, but the team came up short in an 11-10 nine-inning loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (15-24), Tuesday afternoon. With a trip to the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship on the line, the Rams gave a tremendous effort, pushing the game to nine innings; however, it was the Rams whose season ended in the hard-fought loss.

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-25) struggled at the plate when the team took a 7-1 loss to the Chowan Hawks (30-14) in the second round of the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament. The Rams could not quite get the runs they needed across the plate in the tough loss.

    SALEM, VA- The Winston-Salem State Rams (13-24) had an offensive breakout when the team took an 11-0 win over the Bowie State Bulldogs (14-18) to remain in the winner’s bracket of the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament. The Rams combined a terrific offensive effort with a no-hitter to claim the win.

    SALEM, VA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (12-24) opened the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball Championship Tournament in a dramatic fashion when the team took a 5-3 win over the Virginia Union Panthers (15-10). Entering the tournament as the third-seeded team from the CIAA Southern Division, the Rams secured an upset win over the Panthers, the second-seeded team from the CIAA Northern Division.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – After a hard-fought regular season, several members of the Winston-Salem State University softball earned were rewarded by being named to the 2018 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Softball All-Conference team and the 2018 CIAA Softball All-Rookie Team. Three Rams earned All-CIAA honors while two players earned All-Rookie honors.

    WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (10-24, 8-7 CIAA) celebrated Senior Day with the best performance of the season from freshman pitcher Tia Robinson. The WSSU pitcher threw a perfect game to lead the Rams to a 10-0 win over the Livingstone College Blue Bears (2-23, 0-14 CIAA), Monday morning.

    RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (9-24, 7-7 CIAA) had an offensive showcase when the team took a 13-1 win over the Shaw Lady Bears (10-18, 8-8 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. The team scored 13 runs in the win, tying the team’s third best scoring output of the season.

    RALEIGH, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (8-24, 6-7 CIAA) got a much needed win when the team took a 6-4 road victory over the Shaw Lady Bears (10-17, 8-7 CIAA), Sunday afternoon. The win ends a three-game skid by the Rams and gave the team a key Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) victory.

The Rams were held in check against the Falcons’ pitching when the team took the tough loss.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-22, 5-5 CIAA) gave a solid effort, but the team could not quite come back when the team took a 13-9 road loss to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (7-15, 5-7 CIAA). The game was a high-scoring affair, but the Rams could not keep up with the hot hitting of the Golden Bulls.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (7-21, 5-4 CIAA) got back to their winning ways, Saturday morning when the team took a 13-1 five-inning road win over the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (6-15, 4-7 CIAA). The Rams turned in one of their best overall performances of the season with one of their best offensive performances combined with one of their top defensive performances of the season.

In addition to serving as the team’s first Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division win, it also serves as the team’s first road win of the season.

    FAYETTEVILLE, NC  - The Winston-Salem State Rams (5-21, 3-4 CIAA) opened Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division play on a down note when the team took a heartbreaking 6-5 road loss to the Fayetteville State Broncos (5-18, 4-3 CIAA), Friday afternoon. The Rams held a late lead, but a late rally by the Broncos gave the Rams the tough loss.

    CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State University softball team was rewarded for a great week when the team brought home four weekly honors from the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA), Wednesday. WSSU sophomore Erica Davis was named the CIAA Pitcher of the Week while freshman outfielder Nyla Howard was named the CIAA Offensive Player of the Week while junior infielder Daijah Chambers was named the CIAA Defensive Player of the Week. Head coach LaTaya Hilliard-Gray rounded out the week when she was named the CIAA Softball Coach of the Week.

  • Holloman, Snipes Earn Preseason All-CIAA Honors

    CHARLOTTE, NC – One of the early signs of spring hit, Thursday when the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) announced its 2018 Preseason Softball All-Conference team and predicted order of finish. The Winston-Salem State junior duo of second base Jasmine Holloman and designated player Destiny Snipes were both earned spots on the all-conference team. The Rams were picked to finish third in the CIAA Southern Division and fifth overall in the preseason predictions.
