Lady Rams Shut Out North Carolina Central in 4-0 Win

WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (23-11) turned up their defense to pick up a 4-0 win over the North Carolina Central Lady Eagles (6-28), Wednesday afternoon. The Lady Rams put on a stellar defensive effort to score the win as they held the Lady Eagles scoreless with just hits in the win.
WSSU sophomore pitcher Brittany Lane (12-5) led the Lady Rams to the win with seven innings in the circle with 16 strikeouts and no walks. The Lady Rams also added a solid offensive effort as well with eight team hits in the game. Sophomore infielder Nikki Lynch led the way with two hits, a run scored, and an RBI in the game. Senior Bonika Terry added a pair of hits with a run scored as well.
The Lady Rams got on the scoreboard early when senior outfielder Candace Spinks hit an RBI double in the second inning that scored freshman hitter Hope Billings. The Lady Rams padded their lead in the third inning when sophomore infielder Britney Cato hit an RBI single that scored freshman outfielder Tanaya Pettus. The team capped their scoring in the fifth inning when Lynch hit an RBI single while freshman outfielder Shantel Haskins also hit an RBI single.
