WINSTON-SALEM, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (19-23) battled hard, but couldn't get enough runs across the plate in a 2-1 loss to the South Carolina State Lady Bulldogs (7-22). The two teams competed in a fierce battle that went down to the wire, but the Lady Rams couldn't get enough runs across the plate in the loss.

The two teams scored one run each in the first inning. After giving a first inning run to the Lady Bulldogs, the Lady Rams responded with an RBI double by WSSU freshman Kayla Woodbury that tied the game. Neither team would be able to get a run across the plate until the sixth inning when SCSU struck with an RBI single.

Woodbury had a stellar batting performance in the game, going 3-for-3 from the plate with an RBI. WSSU sophomore Ashley Boswell (8-5) took the loss, allowing four hits and just one earned run in the loss. She also added seven strikeouts in the loss.

The same two teams will conclude the weekend series with a Sunday single game at South Park Field.
