Final Stats
NORFOLK, VA - Runs were hard to come by for the Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (20-27), Saturday when the team took a 4-1 loss to the Norfolk State Spartans (17-31). Though the Lady Rams outhit the Spartans, 5-4 in the loss, the team found it hard to get runs across the plate in the loss.
The Lady Rams allowed two runs each to the Spartans in the first and fourth inning of the game. The Lady Rams scored their sole run of the game in the seventh inning on a Norfolk State fielding error. WSSU junior Whitney Hall scored the sole run of the game for the Lady Rams when fellow junior Leslie Hollis forced a fielding error by the Spartans and allowed Hall to score.
WSSU freshman shortstop Bonika Terry had the best performance at the plate for the Lady Rams with a 2-for-3 performance with a double. Hall was 1-for-3 from the plate with a run scored. Lady Ram junior Amber Shore (11-16) pitched for the Lady Rams in the loss, going all seven innings with five strikeouts and allowing just two earned runs in the game.
The two teams would return for game two of Saturday's doubleheader.
