Rams Take 6-3 Loss at Johnson C. Smith

CHARLOTTE, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams (6-6, 5-2 CIAA) took a tough 6-3 loss to the Johnson C. Smith Golden Bulls (11-8, 7-1 CIAA), Wednesday. The Rams gave a great effort with wins in doubles and singles play, but the team could not get enough wins to claim the team victory.

The Rams got the match started with a 2-1 performance in doubles play. The duo of sophomore China Brown and senior Alexus Morgan combined for an 8-2 win at #3 doubles However, the team took losses at #1 and #2 doubles.

The team was able to get pair of singles wins, but could not get enough to win. Freshman Avion Harris took a 6-1, 6-4 win at #6 singles. Brown also added a 6-1, 6-1 win at #4 singles. However, the team took losses at #1, #2, #3 and #5 singles to take the loss.

With the loss, the Rams fall to 6-6 overall and 5-2 in CIAA play. The team also falls to 2-2 in CIAA Southern Division play. The Rams will return to action, Sunday, when they host the Shaw Lady Bears in a 2:00 p.m. match.
