Lady Rams Open 2011 With 7-0 Loss at Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams (0-1) gave a solid effort, but fell short in a 7-0 loss to the Charlotte 49ers (3-0), Thursday afternoon. In a match that was moved up to avoid inclement weather, the Lady Rams fought hard, but were not able to score against the tough 49ers.
The Lady Rams opened the day with three straight losses in doubles play. The sophomore duo of Sloane Holmes and Bianka Locklear had the best performance in the second spot, falling 8-1. The first and third teams both took 8-1 losses in doubles play.
Singles play saw some quality performances by the Lady Rams as well, but not enough to get any wins. Holmes took the first position loss (6-1, 6-0) while sophomore Kayla Carter fell (6-0, 6-3). Locklear had the best individual performance with a 6-2, 6-2 loss in the #3 position. Sophomore Kalin Jarvis posted a 6-1, 6-1 effort in the fourth position. Freshman Dominique Lindsay fell, 6-0, 6-1 in the fifth position while freshman Chelsea Chatman posted a 6-0, 6-1 score at the #6 position.
