Jan. 23, 2011

BOONE, NC - The Winston-Salem State Rams and Lady Rams track & field teams had another great showing this weekend at the 2011 Mountaineer Indoor Open. The team had a great overall day at the event with the WSSU middle distance runners leading the way with some great performances at the meet.

"We saw some good performances from some individuals," WSSU head track & field coach Inez Turner said. "I am seeing some gutsy efforts, but as a team, we must start stepping up as the CIAA championships are just around the corner."

Winston-Salem State dominated the 800m run with top five finishes in both the men's and women's divisions. The Lady Rams tandem of freshman Brittney Killebrew and sophomore Manuela Rigaud got things going for the team with both runners finished in the top five of the women's 800m run.
