Results

RALEIGH, NC - The Winston-Salem State Lady Rams track & field team returned to action, Friday when the team took part in the 2008 Raleigh Relays hosted by North Carolina State at the newly renovated Derr Stadium. The WSSU sprinters garnered the most attention in a crowded field at the event, which featured a host of athletes from numerous levels, including high school, collegiate, and other athletes.

Lady Ram junior Wykeita Barnett had the best finish of the day, placing 21st in the women's 100m dash in a time of 12.10. The 21st place finish marked the first time this season that Barnett has failed to reach the finals of the event. Her time was the second best of the season for Barnett. Freshman Allegra Seegars had the second best WSSU finish in the event, placing 41st in a time of 12.61.

The Lady Rams also had some solid performances in the women's 400m dash with freshman Taylor Calamese finishing 64th in a time of 1:02.27. Fellow freshman Chantelle Bethea also had a good day finishing 66th in a time of 1:02.87.

The Lady Rams will return to action tomorrow to complete the event.
