WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Lady Rams volleyball team added academic success to their stellar list of fall accomplishments as the team placed 12 student-athletes on the fall 2013 Dean's List. The student-athletes earned their places on the prestigious list after earning a scholastic grade point average of 3.0 or higher in 12 or more credit hours of graded coursework at WSSU in an academic semester, with no grade below C and no incomplete grades during the semester.
"I'm 100% proud of these ladies. Having the majority of our team earn Dean's List honorsis a true testament to being a real WSSU volleyball student-athlete," Winston-Salem State head volleyball coach Andi Henderson said. "Our team understands that we want to be the best in every aspect of our lives. I am truly grateful for the action that our team has taken this past semester to strengthen every phase of our program."
The Lady Rams volleyball student-athletes to be named to the fall 2013 Dean's List are junior Jenna Baranowski, freshman Camille Branch, junior Kayla Brass, senior Avoni Seymour, senior Katelyn Sigala, freshman Taylor Evans, freshman Zipporah Foster, sophomore Kate McDaniel, freshman Jocelyn Mills, sophomore Olivia Owens, junior Chelsea Violenes, and senior Katelin Wensley.
The news of the team's academic success came on the heels of a great season on the court for the Lady Rams as the team won the 2013 Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Southern Division championship with a 14-2 record in CIAA play and a 9-1 record in CIAA Southern Division play. The team finished the season by reaching the 2013 CIAA Volleyball Championship Match and finished as the conference runners-up.
