Rams Cross Country to Hold Open Tryouts

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Winston-Salem State University Rams cross country program will hold open tryouts on Thursday, August 23rd at 3:00 p.m. at the Civitan Park track. The tryouts are open to all current students and incoming freshmen at Winston-Salem State University and will offer the opportunity to earn spots on the Rams men's and women's cross country teams.

The tryout will give an opportunity for student-athletes to join one of the premier cross country programs in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA). The Rams women's cross country team have won two of the last three CIAA Cross Country championships and four of the last eight championships. There will also be opportunities to join the Rams men's cross country team.

Participants must provide a physical, proof of insurance, and complete the WSSU Tryout Application located here: http://wssurams.com/information/sports_medicine/WSSU_Tryout_Application.pdf.

Selected student-athletes who complete the season will receive book scholarships. Participants must dress in proper distance running attire including running shoes. Water and snacks will be available.
