The meet, which will feature some of the tough competition with top notch competition when they take the course with a number of quality collegiate teams taking part in the event.
After a pair of solid performances to begin the season, WSSU junior Irene Jeptolo will look to continue her strong running this season. Through the first two races, Jeptolo has posted a pair of top five finishes, including first at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational with a time of 16:03.57 and finished fifth at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational in a time of 19:10.00. While Jeptolo may grab the headlines, freshman Ariel Armstrong is quietly enjoying a great season as well. Armstrong finished fifth at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational in a time of 17:07.94, followed by finishing 26th amongst a talented field at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational in a time of 22:12.00.
The combination of youth and experience is working well for the Rams as well with senior Kenneth Keoch and sophomore Brandon Howe leading the way for the Rams cross country team this season. In the team's first two meets, Howe has had the team's top finishes, including finishing 13th at the UNC-Pembroke Invitational with a time of 21:33.74 in the 6K event as well as finishing 30th at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational with a time of 17:47.00 in the 5000m event. Not to be outdone, senior Kenneth Keoch has had some solid finishes as well placing 17th at the UNC Pembroke Invitational with a time of 21:52.12 and a finishing 34th at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational in a time of 18:07.00.
The Lady Rams will begin their 5K run at 9:30 am with the men beginning their 8K run at 10:15 am.
