Marc Heinecke joined the Winston-Salem State University staff in the spring of 2012. With a strong knowledge of strength and fitness training and years of experience, he will be a key figure in the success of Rams and Lady Rams athletics.
He joins the WSSU staff after spending two years at the Texas-A&M-Kingsville where he helped to make the Javelinas some of the top teams in the Lone Star Conference.
Prior to taking the reins of the strength & conditioning at Texas A&M-Kingsville, he spent five years at the University of Maryland where he was an assistant strength coach. During his time with the Terrapins, he worked with several of the top athletes in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).
He holds a bachelor’s degree from Truman (Mo.) State where he was a four-year letterman in football and a three-year letterman in wrestling. He also earned a master’s degree from the U.S. Sports Academy.
Heinecke spent four years as a strength coach and two years as a personal trainer before going to the University of Maryland. He is a certified specialist in speed and explosion for sports competition, a certified strength & conditioning coach, and is certified in American Sports Fitness Association sports nutrition and International Fitness Association sports nutrition. He is also certified through USA Weightlifting.
Heinecke is married to Katie Serenelli.
