WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – For a second week in a row, Jaylon Gibson from the Winston-Salem State University men's basketball team has been named the Food Lion Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA ®) Men's Defensive Player of the Week.

For the third time this season, Jaylon Gibson has earned weekly honors after being named the Defensive Player of the Week after helping the Rams secure a huge 70-72 overtime win against St. Augustine's finishing with eight rebounds (four) defensive, recording four blocks, and two steals. Offensively, the Zebulon native also scored 17 points on the afternoon. Gibson is currently ranked eighth in the CIAA in scoring, averaging 13.5 points a game. He is also seventh in rebounding (6.8) per game. He's first in field goal percentage (.601) and seventh in blocked shots (1.0).

Other winners include Cartier Jernigan as Player of the Week and Ezekiel Cannedy as Rookie of the Week, both from Johnson C. Smith.

 Gibson and the Rams will be back in action on Thursday, February 9th hosting Claflin University at 8 p.m. inside the C.E. Gaines Center.
