2011FRESHMAN SEASON:  platooned at first base in 2011 collecting 11 hits in 64 plate appearances……scored in 9 runs and had 1 triple…..drew 6 walks and drove in 5 runs…..2011 HIGHLIGHTS: was 2-3 against Armstrong Atlantic State on 2/6/11…..was 2-3 with a run scored against St. Augustines on 2/15/11…..was 1-3 with a run scored in a 12-10 win over Virginia State on 4/3/11…..was 1-2 with a BB and run scored against Shaw on 4/5/11…..had an RBI single and scored a run in a 15-6 win over Virginia State in the CIAA tournament on 4/21/11…..

 

HIGH SCHOOL:  graduated from Greensboro Day School where he was successful as a two sport athlete…..guided the Bengals baseball squad to a 19-8 record and the 2010 conference title under head coach Buddy Walker…..batted .389 with 7 doubles, 1 HR, 14 runs and 15 RBIs…..As a wrestler in the 215lb. weight class, Wells finished 2nd in the 2010 North Carolina state Wrestling tournament…..

 

PERSONAL:  Physical Education major….. born 7/4/1991 and is the twin brother of Rams teammate Scott Wells….. parents are Eddy and Camille Wells…... most memorable sports moment is winning the 2011 CIAA championship……favorite thing about the WSSU baseball program is how it “Expects To Win.”

 

COACH RITSCHE ON WELLS:  “Jon made improvements throughout the season, especially with his defense.  He was used as a pinch hitter later in games and exceled in that role.  His offense continued to improve over the 2011 fall season and he will once again compete for innings at first base and DH in 2012.”
