Rams Fall 3-2 In Extra Inning Loss To Mars Hill

MARS HILL, NC – Winston-Salem State fell 3-2, to the Mars Hill Bulldogs, as Matt Honeycutt hit a walk off home run in the bottom of the ninth, to sweep a double-header from the Rams Saturday afternoon.

For WSSU, John Garcia went 1 for 3 with a run scored and Randy Norris went 1 for 3. Emilio Abreau finished 1 for 4 and Brandon Ford Went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a double.  Landon Steiner went 1 for 3 and Willie McRae went 2 for 4 on the afternoon.

Landon Steiner scored on Matt Mauldin sacrifice fly in the second inning and John Garcia scored on a balk in the seventh for the Rams.

Mars Hill scored their last two runs on home runs in the bottom of the sixth and bottom of the ninth.

Ivan Acuna took the loss for WSSU, as he gave up the walk off home run. Jordan Carlton pitched 8 innings, allowing five hit and one earned run, while walking two batters and striking out seven. Will Beeson as came on in relief for the Rams.
