FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA – The Winston-Salem State Rams (28-14) were held in check when the team took a 9-1 loss to the Emmanuel (Ga.) Lions (24-25), Saturday afternoon. The Rams managed one run on four hits in the hard-fought loss.
Winston-Salem State had its share of struggles at the plate in the loss. AS a team, the Rams managed just four hits in the game. Senior short stop Nick Williams was the only WSSU player with multiple hits in the game as he went two-for-three at the plate with a run scored. Junior left fielder Cole Parks added a one-for-three performance with an RBI.
The Rams got things going in the first inning when Parks hit into an RBI fielder's choice to score Williams and gave the Rams a 1-0 lead. However, it was all the offense WSSU would muster as the team allowed eight unanswered runs to the Lions, including two first inning runs, a second inning run, a fifth inning run, and five sixth inning runs to take the loss.
With the loss, the Rams fall to 28-14. The team will return to action, Tuesday, when the team hosts the Catawba Indians in a Senior Day game at BB&T Ballpark. For more information on Rams baseball, contact the WSSU Office of Athletic Media Relations at (336) 750-2143 or log on to www.WSSURams.com.
