With a passion for the game and some strong knowledge, Lance Beckwith is a terrific addition to the Rams basketball staff. He joined the Rams in the fall of 2018. After a terrific playing career and a strong career both as a coach and a trainer, Beckwith is a key figure in carrying on the tradition of Rams basketball.
Prior to joining the Rams’ basketball coaching staff, Beckwith served as a basketball trainer in the Raleigh/Durham area of North Carolina. During his career, Beckwith spent time with Team United on the Elite Basketball Youth League (EYBL) as well as coaching Team Wall in the Adidas Gauntlet as well. He was the head coach of the 15 & under team and an assistant coach on the 17 & under team.
While Beckwith had an impressive coaching career, it followed an equally impressive playing career. He was a groundbreaking player as Wake Tech Community College he was the first player to sign a basketball scholarship. He went on to continue his career at the University of Central Missouri where he led the team to a pair of Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) regular season championships and a MIAA tournament championship as well. During his career, he scored 1,329 points with 546 rebounds, and 344 career assists. In high school, he was a star at the Word of God Christian Academy where he won a state championship in 2008 and he was a teammate of current NBA star, John Wall.
Beckwith is a 2013 graduate of the University of Central Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree. He also holds a Master of the Arts degree in Communications. He and his wife, Chaquinta, are the parents of a son, Lance Beckwith, Jr.
