GREENSBORO, NC – The Winston-Salem State Rams men's and women's cross country teams had some impressive performances at the 36th Annual Greensboro Cross Country Invitational at Hagan Stone Park in nearby Greensboro, N.C. The Rams men's team placed third among NCAA Division II teams and the women placed fourth among NCAA Division II teams.
The Rams men's team had a great performance at the meet. As a team, the Rams totaled 92 points, besting fellow Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) teams Livingstone and Fayetteville State. WSSU freshman Isaac Phipps led the way for the Rams when he placed 17th in the men's 8K run with a 30:16.9. Fellow freshman Jordan Savoy added a 41st place finish with a 32:58.8 and junior Ashley Simon placed 57th with a 35:27.1.
The Rams women's team also saw some impressive efforts as well. The team totaled 86 points to finish fourth among NCAA Division II teams. Junior Ojai Brooks led the way for the Rams when she placed 21st with a 23:27.1 while senior Keyona Johnson added a 25th place finish with a 23:55.5.
